Fidelity Bank / KBTH Establishes Critical Care Fund

Fidelity Bank in collaboration with management of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has established a critical care fund

for the intensive care unit of the hospital.

The fund will enable the hospital to provide support for patients who cannot afford intensive care and emergency health services.

It will also help sustain supply of consumables at the intensive care unit and ensure adequate maintenance of equipments needed to deliver emergency health services at the intensive care unit of the hospital.

Speaking at the Launch of the fund, the Deputy Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Jim Baiden said, “Good health plays an important role in the life of any individual. Fidelity Bank is committed to helping Korle Bu save lives of both children and adults alike, especially the needy and vulnerable in very critical times.”

According to Mr. Baiden, the gesture is in line with the Bank’s commitment to give back to the society as it has done over the years.  “Being adjudged the most socially responsible Bank in Ghana at this year’s Ghana Banking awards ceremony gives credence to our core value of serving our community with passion,”  He added that Fidelity Bank wants to be the bank that leads developmental projects in Ghana.

The Director of Medical Affairs at  Korle Bu Teaching Hospital,  Dr Samuel Asiamah, speaking on behalf of the chief executive officer, stated that the provision of critical care is extremely expensive with an estimated cost on average of GH ¢2,000 a day to maintain individuals on ventilators, oxygen and keep them dehydrated and nourished.

Dr. Asiamah therefore pointed out that the establishment of the fund is a significant milestone in the hospital’s effort to provide care, especially to patients or individuals who may not be in a position to cater for, nor afford the cost of critical care.

He expressed his gratitude to the management of Fidelity Bank for the kind gesture which will go a long way to save many lives.

Fidelity Bank committed seed money of GH¢   50,000 to the fund, urging other individual and corporate bodies to also contribute to the fund through Fidelity Bank, Korle Bu Critical Fund,
