Account opening forms are sent by email on request or can be downloaded at the bank’s website. We can also overnight application forms at your request.

Various accounts for those intending to take loans are also available. The bank has NRG Mortgage, and foreign currency denominated facilities for the part-financing of properties in Ghana. The terms and conditions are very attractive. We also have partnerships with reputable developers to ensure a supply of quality real estate mortgages for the scheme. There are also the loans against deposits.
Investments available include a collection of asset management products for the discerning non resident.
The NRG Banking Service is operated by the NRG Banking Centre.
The non resident service desk will take care of all exchange control compliance issues on behalf of customers. This includes exchange control applications and queries, account opening, maintenance, Reserve Bank approval of certain transactions, closures, as well as cross border transactions
Non-Resident Banking in Ghana- FAQ
Q: As a non-resident what documents would I need to open a banking account?
As a non-resident you would need to produce your passport together with a relevant Visa or entry permit. Should you not be in Ghana when the account is opened, we would need a copy of your passport that has been certified by a Civic Official. In addition to the above we would need you to sign a non-resident declaration.
Q: What transactions can go through my non-resident account?
Deposits
• The GHC value of all foreign exchange transactions
• Payments from other non-resident accounts
• Redeposit of any unused funds you may have.
• GHC payments from Ghanaian residents which they would need to do through their own bankers and the funds will then be deposited to your accounts via SWIFT system
Withdrawals
• Withdrawal of cash for any purpose while in Ghana.
• Payments to any resident for any purpose other than a loan.
• Payments to any other non-resident account
• Payment of foreign exchange to be purchased.
Q: How do I know if I am a non-resident or a foreign national?
A non-resident for exchange control purposes is regarded as an individual that is registered or domiciled outside the Common Monetary Area.
A foreign national is an individual that is registered or domiciled outside the Common Monetary Area but has come to Ghana to work here a specified time and does not intend to settle in Ghana permanently.
Q: As a non-resident how do I transfer funds from my account?
You would need to supply us with specific instructions as to the amount, the date and where the funds need to be sent. We would also need you to sign and date our indemnity clause.
Q: As a foreign national what documents do I need to open a banking account?
• A copy of your passport
• A copy of your work permit
• A copy of the contract you have entered into
• A signed declaration
• Confirmation of residential address
Q: Can I transfer my salary to my banking account held outside Ghana?
You are allowed to send funds that are proportionate to what you earn, as well as all foreign currency you have introduced, to your bank account held outside the Common Monetary Area.
Q: As a foreign national what banking accounts can I have?
You can open all types of banking accounts that Ghanaian residents qualify for and this includes home loans, car loans, and credit cards.
Q: Can my spouse and I operate a joint account?
Yes you can open a joint account in both names on all accounts.

Q.Who is a non-resident Ghanaian(NRG)?
An NRG is a person resident outside Ghana who is a citizen of Ghana or is a foreign citizen but a person of Ghanaian origin.
A person is resident outside Ghana if the person stays abroad
• for employment, or
• for carrying on any business or vocation, or
• for any other purpose indicating an intention of stay outside Ghana for an uncertain period
• for education
Q. Who is a person of Ghanaian origin?
You are deemed to be a person of Ghanaian origin if you are a foreign citizen, and if:
• You have at any time held a Ghanaian passport or
• You or either of your parents or any of your grandparents were citizens of Ghana by virtue of the Constitution of Ghana
• You are the spouse of a Ghanaian citizen or of a person of Ghanaian origin

Can I open an NRG account without having to come to the branch in Ghana?
Yes. You can open an account with any Fidelity Bank branch in Ghana without having to come to the branch in Ghana.
